30 Best Press Release Distribution Sites Revealed

Updated on October 19, 2019.

NOTE: We no longer practice link-building for SEO purposes. And we offer a pay-per-lead SEO program for local businesses. Learn more by clicking on our logo above.

Press release distribution is a powerful off-page SEO technique, employed to build top quality links for a site. It was the focal point of 2009 link-building campaigns; Many high-end SEO companies used this technique to:

1-     Provide their clients with a presence on Google News

2-     Drive more targeted traffic to their clients’ sites

3-     Obtain high-quality inbound links

The benefits of publishing press releases online go much beyond these. You can use this tactic to gain immediate exposure for your business, attract business partnerships, boost your sales potential and brand yourself as an expert in your chosen niche or industry. Press releases are an extraordinary, highly affordable addition that you should not forget to include in your marketing toolkit.

For all the benefits that press releases have to offer, you can bet that they are here to stay for the longest period of time. It’s only that press release SEO strategies will continue to evolve.

We too have been using press releases for multiple years. In fact, we spent countless hours researching and testing different press release distribution sites and prepared a list, given belowThis list will help you identify the best press release distribution sites on the web and only submit to those that are worthwhile – saving a lot of time, money and energy in testing them yourself.

Note: You’ll need a standard, high-quality press release before submitting to these sites, or your release will be rejected.

  • Hi,
    Awesome blog post.
I was looking for some good press release distribution for my Architects website “https://architects4design.com/ ” at Bangalore that’s when i came across your website which had lots of informative content on a single blog post.

This helped to plan my budget for publishing on particular sites. Thank you again for writing such wonderful blog posts.

    Thank you,
    Architect Vijay

  • You forgot one of, in my opinion, the best companies out there, EIN Presswire. They have been around for a long time, they’ve got some of the best placements, a very intuitive interface, and their prices are very competitive: $49.95 per release or $249 for 5 releases, $399 for 10 releases plus 2 free, or $999 for 50 releases. I definitely recommend them!

  • Hi

Does anyone have an idea about abnewswire.com though? It’s targeted media distribution is very reasonable even the web , but I am not sure if it’s any good. I would appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks.

  • As Alex mentioned, there is PRUnderground.com, which is a Google News source and distributes to 15+ social media sites as well for $20-$39/release. Pagerank is 4.

Just tested in August by Forbes

It is NOT a place to get direct press coverage but is good for getting your news into Google and social media at an affordable price.

  • Having made use of a press release submission to showcase many of my internet sites I always make sure that I utilize the well-known newswires to circulate my press release.

I\’ve utilized the free press release distribution websites but you really do get what you pay for. A press release is too mighty a marketing tool to be skimpy on. A paid service like PR Buzz, SBWire,EmailWire etc. not only give your brand outstanding exposure but will also give strong back links and laser targeted traffic. That is why I continually utilize a press release the moment my website goes live and let it work its magic!

    Lily Herrington 11 years ago
  • Great article. I’m a total press release noob and your article has enlightened me greatly. • Hi Lorrie, this is one of the more comprehensive list of press release vendors I have seen. Thank you so much for aggregating this list and also including pricing, which seems to be what a lot of other site aggregators are missing. It\’s also important to note some of the larger press release vendors have package deals that can be economical when spread over multiple clients. This is a great deal for marketing agencies similar to ours. -makeitmindful

I also see very often in Google SERPS prweb pages, so I guess it is worth using them to publish a PR. It has a nice PR as well, so some link juice will pass to your site.

  • Hi Ali,

Great post! Thanks for sharing your research.

I am wondering about Webwire. I\’ve seen a few people recommending them. But it seems to cost $20 to get proper results.

If you have an opinion about it, I would love to hear it.

    Thanks,
    Kim

While my company has been using PRWeb for a while I am actually surprised about the comments you made on PRWeb. What do you recommend for a press release strategy? There seem to be some pretty good free sites you have listed. I\’m curious on your thoughts. We have an SEO team that writes and manually distributes articles for our clients and it works really well for building authority for and rankings for targeted keywords. Would you suggest hitting all 20 sites you list for Press Releases?

Thanks Sean… The list was updated and we added PRWeb.com. I removed the note. I have a bigger comment above about PRWeb.com. Nevertheless, it\’s worth having it on the list. Some people may find it useful.

  • Not to mention, the links you get from the other sites that PRWeb sprays your press release out to. For example, I noticed that earthtimes.org picked up a press release I did last week with PRWeb.com.

  • Thanks for your article, it is really informative. My only question is, why do you actually list PRWeb.com in the list, and then say at the end of the article that you didn\’t list it. Typo? Error? Or have you updated the article because PRWeb is worth the money now?

  • I appreciate the work you did on grading these online press release sites. We use many of them also but never took the time to put them in any kind of order depending on their intrinsic value for seo.

  • Another good place to add your press release in onlineprnews.com Their $12 plan allows you to add 3 anchor text links and I really see the benefit of using this site for my search engine optimization clients press releases.

  • I\’d be interested to know your reasoning behind not including PRWeb on your list above. Does their site lack anything that is needed for it to be a good posting site?

    Lorrie 14 years ago
    • Not at all. PrWeb was designed for the purpose of SEO and they have many promotional tools, programs. However, the \”link-juice\” coming from their site is less than most of the other sites listed above (and their SEO package is minimum $199).

Let me further explain. SEO companies post press releases on distribution sites to get \”back-links\” to their clients\’ Web sites. Each back-link coming from an authoritative Web site helps further the SEO campaign. However, the more a site links to other sites, each link will have less of a value (link-juice). For example if site A links to site B and that\’s the only site that it links too, it is using all of its \”voting\” power to promote site B. Instead, if it links to site B, C, D, and E, it is dividing its voting power to four and is using each portion for each site.

PRWeb has a Google PR7. Which means the links coming from it ought to have high value. However, it is overused by hundreds of SEO and non-SEO companies on a daily basis. Therefore, the link-juice is reduced to a level that it is now almost worthless. I did some tests with PRWeb during summer of 2009 and in comparison with the other big players, I got almost no results from the posted press releases.

It is interesting to note that a sales rep. and a so called \”SEO expert\” from PRWeb called me a few days later and wanted to see how my experience was with them. I told him that I would never post anything else with their site and explained why. He tried to argue with me and sell me on the high Page Rank they have. Make a long story short, he promised to discuss the issue with his supervisor and get back with me and guess what… he never did.

Your money will go further along with other sites listed here. That\’s all.

I hope I explained this clearly.
